Batting first in perfect cricket conditions at the Thames Rugby Club ground, our 5th XI posted a respectable 201 for 4 from the allotted 35 overs, thanks to a fine maiden half-century from Akther Raju supported by Elliot Osborne (45) and Usman Rahim (42*). For the Old Chelmsfordians bowlers, Steve Mclean collected 3 for 40.

In their run chase after tea, OCs were never quite up with the clock against some tight bowling (Viresh Kosambia an impressive 3 for 8 from 6 overs), and although Declan Cllfford stroked 45 his team closed on 136 for 9 and our 5s secured a comfortable 65-runs victory.
