JAMES WEBB REACHES 25 WICKETS:
Walthamstow 2nd XI 250-8 (Sandy Richards 62)
Belhus 2nd XI 216-9 (Afif Khan 61) 29th June.
Although
Ashir Saleem (4-29) and Imran Mohammed (3-45) bowled well, Walthamstow
still managed to rack up a competitive 250 for 9 from their allotted 50
overs with opener Sandy Richards their lead run-scorer with 62. And
although James Webb took just a solitary wicket, he became the Club's first bowler to reach 25 wickets this season.
In our reply after
tea, we lost early wickets to find ourselves perched precariously on 22
for 3. Then Afif Khan pulled the game around as he batted superbly to clock up his
maiden half-century, and skipper Jack Plane stroked 44 and others down
the order chipped in with valuable double figure scores. But although a victory for us wasn't on the cards, it was
left to Imran Mohammed (15*) and James Webb (8*) to combine together and
hold out stoically for a Draw.
Although our 2nd XI picked up only 8
League points, they still sit in 2nd place in their HFEL Division, 16
points behind leaders Frenford but with 10 matches still to be played.
