TOM THOMPSON STROKES FINE CENTURY:
Belhus 3rd XI 230-8 (Tom Thompson 103)
Walthamstow 3rd XI 182-8 (Stuart Martin 50) 29th June.
Batting
first in this eighth Hamro Foundation Essex League match of the season,
our 3rd XI posted a total of 230 for 8 thanks to a class century from
Club Chairman Tom Thompson - his first ton of the season and his seventh for the Club. Alfie Ware
supported positively with 37 to take us to a respectable score at
the conclusion of our allotted 50 overs.
In their reply after tea,
Walthamstow struggled against a masterful 9-over spell from Lucas Barnett
in capturing 4 for 18 and Belhus were in the driving seat as Walthamstow
were perched precariously on 100 for 7. But Stuart Martin pulled
matters around for his side before being dismissed for a fine half-century, and
although a victory was well within our sights, we couldn't quite weasle out
the 9th-wicket pair Henry Wragg and Ravin Weerawardena as they held on
gamely for a Draw.
