WOMEN'S AND GIRLS' SOFTBALL FESTIVAL

On the vibrant Bank Holiday Monday of May 29th, Belhus Cricket Club hosted a spectacular Women's & Girls' Softball Festival. The event brought together an impressive line-up of 8 girls' teams and 12 women's teams, featuring players ranging in age from 7 to 70. This exhilarating celebration of cricket left a lasting impression on all attendees.

In addition to the thrilling matches, the Festival offered a range of activities to keep everyone entertained. From a sizzling BBQ to lively music, face painting, stalls, and bouncy castles, participants of all ages had an absolute blast.

In the morning, the cricket grounds at North Stifford were buzzing with excitement as the girls teams took centre stage. Teams such as OAT Valkyries, Hutton Girls, Belhus Fireflies, Benfleet Jades, Upminster CC, Belhus Royals, Benfleet Diamonds and Harold Wood Girls showcased their incredible skills and passion for the game.  It was awe-inspiring to witness such young talents displaying their cricketing prowess.

In the afternoon, the women's teams brought their A-game to the field. Wickford Ladies, Benfleet Topaz, Frenford Women, Belhus Queens, OAT Angels, Copdock & Old Ipswichian Ladies, OAT Ferrets, Belhus Belles, Rainham Rockettes, Walthamstow 6 Fine Legs, Upminster CC, and Benfleet Emeralds engaged in exhilarating matches that kept the spectators entertained.  Upminster CC emerged as the champions, securing the Lisa Cansdale Trophy for achieving the highest net runs.

One standout player who stole the show was Pat from Rainham.  At the age of 70, she delivered an inspiring performance and earned the well-deserved title of Player of the Match. Her presence added an extra spark to the event, leaving everyone truly inspired.

A heartfelt thanks goes out to all the dedicated members of Belhus Cricket Club who worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. Their invaluable contributions, including running the games, managing the bar and BBQ, and organizing parking, were instrumental in making the Festival a resounding success.

Special recognition goes to the Belhus Young Leaders who played a vital role in scoring and umpiring matches. Their commitment and enthusiasm greatly contributed to the festival's success.
