After batting first in this ninth Hamro Foundation Essex League match of the season on yet another scorching hot day, Belhus opener Lewis Blake struck a half-century (69) and Louie Mailey made a positive contribution with 38. Unfortunately our other batters never quite got into their stride as the team was bowled out for a modest 218. Joe Riddell was the pick of the Harlow bowlers with 4 for 50 from 12 overs.

In their run-chase, Harlow lost early wickets to find themselves in a spot of trouble at 43 for 4, but a fifth-wicket partnership of 78 lifted them up to 121 for 5 and the game was in the balance. But then Belhus took control by capturing 5 quick wickets for just 11 runs and Harlow collapsed to 132 for 9 with the game all but over. But No. 9 batter Joe Riddell and No.11 Jake Messenger had other ideas as they gave Belhus a bit of a scare by carving a determined last-wicket partnership of 55 before Zak Wilson finally trapped Messenger lbw to close out the match and give Belhus victory by 31 runs.

In collecting a much-welcome 25 points, Billy Winter's 1st XI now sit in fifth place in their Division with 9 matches of the season remaining.
