Belhus won the toss in this sixth League match of the season at North Stifford and elected to field first. But although we had Westcliff in trouble at 45 for 4, we just couldn't prevent Carl Lees (94) and Charlie Lockhart (84) carving out a 5th-wicket partnership of 153 to help lift their team's total to 283 all out.

In the run chase, our batters struggled to make any impression on the tight lines of the Westcliff bowlers and we found ourselves staring down the barrel at 89 for 7 after 29 overs with not one of our dismissed batters reaching double figures. Fortunately, skipper Ryan Wells (78*) and Abdullah Mir (43*) came to the rescue and combined together to stop the rot as they stoically batted out 16 overs in a 72-runs 8th-wicket partnership to see us finish on 161-7 and earn us a Draw.

Westcliff must rightly have felt that they had victory in the bag, but well done to Ryan and Abdullah for turning the game around and saving the day. The 1st XI now sit in 5th place in their Division in a packed middle-table, and are hoping for some better team performances in the coming weeks.
