In the first round the Hamro Foundation Essex League Cup, Benfleet batted first but could only manage to post an under-par total of 134. Dylan Sinfield was our star bowler snapping up 5 for 32 from 7.2 overs.

With a low score to chase, opener Lewis Blake continued his fine form this season by crafting a controlling half-century (53), but only Wasif Ghory of the rest of the batters reached double figures as Hammad Hussan and Luke Whitbourn took '5fors' apiece and Benfleet dismissed Belhus for a paltry 101 to win by 33 runs.

A disappointing performance by the 1st XI but well played Benfleet and good luck to them in the next rounds.
