In the penultimate Hamro Foundation Essex League match of the season, the young 1st XI batted first with skipper Ryan Wells batting stoically for 60, and Lewis Blake supporting with 43 as they managed to post 222 for 8 from the allotted 50 overs, a respectable total that provided something to defend.

But, alas, they came up against Akhil Anil and Vishal Raj in dominant form as they both struck fine half-centuries in their 185-run opening partnership to lead their side to an emphatic 8-wicket victory. Well played Ilford.

It was the 1st XI League debut for Belhus's Afra Rose Mohamed who collected a wicket from her 5-over spell having clean-bowled opener Anil.
