Rayleigh v Belhus Cricket Club Midweek XI on Wed 02 Aug 2023 at 1.30pm
Match was Abandoned
Match report
Electing to bat in this 30-over encounter in the Rayleigh cricket week shortened from 40 overs due to threatening weather.
The Belhus innings opened brightly as the Blake brothers put on an opening stand of 32 before Alex was bowled for a good 24 including a 6 over extra cover trying to accelerate. Lewis followed well caught at point for 14. Henry Overy continued his good form making a brisk 39 n.o. and the ever-improving Zoran Suneel a 15 n.o. in a third wicket stand that realised 35 before the inevitable happened and the predicted poor weather arrived and it "tonked it" down! and the covers came on. This left Belhus well placed but "high and dry" on 109 for 2 and a decent total very likely. However, the weather set in. The match was sadly abandoned at 3pm after 17.1 overs. The rain came out the unfortunate winner.
Thanks to Martin for umpiring and Julie for scoring. (Mike Randall).
