Belhus Cricket Club Won By 30 Runs
Match report
U11-13s Game 5 - Woolpit
Having left our base in Lowestoft around 10am we headed off in the direction of Bury St Edmunds to our hosts Woolpit Cricket Club.
Upon arrival it was clear we were at a beautiful venue, two pitches and a wonderful clubhouse.
For the fifth day running we lost the toss and were put in to bat.
James P and Sophie opened the batting and dug in, not giving up their wicket and both ended not out.
That continued with Ronnie and Lewys also finishing not out too. The two lads played straight and wonderfully walking off carrying their bat.
The innings started to kick on when Reuben and Oli came into the crease, as in typical fashion both boys hit boundaries and ran multiple singles together to get the scoreboard ticking.
This was continued when Alfie and Ben came to the crease. It was singles galour and the boys put on a decent partnership together.
Dylan, Riley and Louie batted 9,10,11 and the produced fireworks which included six 4s, multiple singles and a huge 6 from Dylan.
Belhus ended on net 98 runs after the loss of 9 wickets.
James P and Sophie opened the bowling for the visitors and the opening four overs returned 4 wickets. Both James and Sophie got one each and there was 2 run outs from James’s second over.
James’s wicket was thanks to a great catch from Ronnie which was later named moment of the match.
Ronnie and Lewys were the first change bowlers and bowled carried on their tour form and bowled well.
Lewys also managed to pick up a wicket with his 3rd ball after a catch from Ben.
Louie and Reuben bowled the middle overs and during their 5 overs they picked up 5 between them.
Reuben returning the figures of 2-2 while Louie got the best figures of the week of 3 wickets for just 1 run.
Oli and Alfie continued the tight bowling from Belhus and made it difficult for Woolpit to score, with Alfie also getting a wicket in his first over.
Ben, Dylan and Riley bowled the last 6 overs between then and only conceded 19 runs while picking up 4 wickets.
Ben finishing with 2-6, Dylan 1-6 and Riley 0-7, with one run out also.
Fantastic bowling from the visitors restricted Woolpit to net 68 runs.
Therefore giving Belhus a winning end to their tour by 30 runs and rounding off a superb week away.
As mentioned above Ronnie was given the moment of the match for a great catch from James’s bowling.
Match balls were given to Alfie and Lewys also for the wickets they picked up during the game.
On behalf of the U11/U13s management team we want to thank all 14 players we had on tour with us and for the families for making it another memorable one.
Thanks to Karen and Jim for all of their organisation for the week away and here’s to 2022……..when we hopefully could have 3 teams on tour with us making it the biggest Belhus Youth Tour yet!!!!
Kindest of regards
Scott, Martin, Glenn and Ryan
