Match report The Belhus U9's had their first match of the season in a friendly against the Orsett and Thurrock Valkyries at School Lane, Orsett. The hosts batted first and Sophie and Niamh both top-scored with 13 apiece. Aarav Kansangra was the main wicket-taker for Belhus with 3 for 15. Charlie Whitlock took 2 for 21 and there were also wickets for Jax Grant, Alfie Bowden, Joseph Trotter and Abhinav Dharmani. Kyron Mudhar bowled very steadily just conceding 7 runs from his 3 overs. The Valkyries scored 112 but lost 9 wickets. In this format, losing a wicket costs a three run penalty so the total of 112 was netted down to 85.

Belhus then batted and the top scorers were Kayhan Suneel with 11, striking 1 four and Alfie Bowden who made 9 including 2 fine fours. Unfortunately for Belhus the Valkyries bowled very well taking 11 wickets with Simran the pick of the bowlers with excellent figures of 4 for 13. By losing 11 wickets the Belhus score of 88 was netted back to 55.

So Belhus lost by 30 runs but it was a very good experience for them in their first match. There was some very good batting and bowling and Belhus can take a lot of learnings into their practice and training going forward.
