Hockerill v Belhus Cricket Club Sunday XI on Sun 12 Jul 2020 at 2pm
Belhus Cricket Club Won by 5 Wickets
Match report
Hockerill 107
Belhus Sunday XI 108-5
Batting first on a slow pitch in this friendly 40 over encounter, home side Hockerill made a steady start with the first three batsman, Dahri (17) Commercial (18) and Barker(29) all making double figure contributions as Jamie Fairweather bowled really well to concede just 6 runs from his seven overs. An excellent run-out by Fairweather and good bowling by Rob Marlow and Keith Dhannie saw the middle order collapse, and the innings stutter badly. Tailenders Vernon and Hobart with 16n.o. and 10 respectively, pushed the final total to a meagre 107 a.o off just 33 overs for the innings to end with 7 overs remaining.
In contrast, none of the Belhus top three reached double figures. At 15 for 3 a unlikely defeat looked a possibility. However, the home attack was not as consistent. Rob Marlow and Mohammed Haroon Mosazai then forged a partnership in what looked to be a match-winning stand. However, Mohammed was unluckily caught by the 'keeper off the back of his bat for a steady 21 and the stand of 62 ended. Keith Dhannie went comprehensively bowled 2nd ball. Mike Randall then joined Marlow in a stand of 32, Marlow carrying his bat for a good 40 n.o. to win the game by 5 wickets with 8.4 overs remaining. Well played Belhus and thanks to Julie for scoring.
