In this eighteenth HFEL match of the season at North Stifford, Woodford Wells won the toss and elected to bat first but lost opener Harry Neicho without a run on the board. A fine second-wicket partnership progressed the score to 75 for 1, but the WW batters failed to maintain momentum as only Barbadian Chaim Holder showed any resistance by carrying his bat for 62, and WW were bowled out for an under-par 195 (including 34 extras) in 47 overs. Five of our bowlers shared the wickets betwen them.

In reply, Belhus lost opener Lewis Blake without a run being scored and wickets fell steadily as they found themselves sitting uncomfortably on 86 for 8. However, a 34-run partnership between Ted Waters and Abdullah Mir lifted spirits by taking the score to 120 for 9 but with hope of victory all but lost. But then Ted Waters and Louie Mailey took control as they thwarted the WW effort to close out the game by carving a determined 40 runs for the last wicket before Ted was bowled by Aayush Aiya for 38 leaving Belhus short of the target by just 35 runs.

This young but talented Belhus squad will need to display the full range of their skills in the remaining two matches of the season if they are to avoid relegation.
