In this fifteenth HFEL match of the season, Belhus won the toss and invited S-l-H to bat first.

Bottom of the table S-l-H batted steadily down the order to post a respectable 247-9 from their allotted 50 overs, with Jack Scutt top-scoring with 45. The five Belhus bowlers shared the wickets between them and Henry Overy was the pick of the crop in collecting 3 for 41.

In reply, the 1st XI steadily lost wickets and with their score at 136 for 5 the game was very much in the balance. But then opener Lewis Blake and Billy Winter took command with a 97-run 6th wicket partnership before Blake was dismissed having scored exactly 100 (his fourth century of the season) with the scoreboard showing 233 for 6. And when Billy Winter fell just 1 run later and Wayne Read followed shortly thereafter, Belhus were perched precariously on 240 for 8. Fortunately, Teddy Waters and Abdullah Mir were able to keep their cool in the tense situation and together steered the 1st XI home to a 2-wicket win.

A much-needed win and 20 points for the 1st XI who need a couple of victories from their remaining three matches to avoid dropping down to Division Three next season.
