Match report In our second of three matches at the West Mersea CC Charity Softball Competition in aid of the Ruth Strauss Foundation, we played our hosts on the main pitch in front of the pavilion. Again, we lost three wickets, in the fourth, sixth and tenth overs to leave our gross score of 40 being reduced to 31 net.

But this match was much closer, with West Mersea also losing three wickets. The islanders did not surpass the Belhus score until the first ball of the penultimate over. We were unable to take any further wickets as West Mersea batted more cautiously once they were ahead, though they did manage to score two further boundaries and two singles to push themselves slightly further ahead. The home side's gross total was 51, with a three-run deduction for each wicket taken, this resulted in a net score of 42.

As is normal for women's softball pairs cricket, the scoresheets do not capture individual scores or bowling analysis.
