Belhus stormed to an emphatic 3rd XI record ten-wickets victory margin in the Shepherd Neame League as openers Richard Dopson (54*) and Ben Marns (72*),creating also the record opening partnership for the 3rd XI of 143. At Ockendon Recreation ground, Marns hit 13 fours and 1 six from 64 balls, while Dopson adopted a more cautious approach to the visiting attack, yet still reached a half-century in an innings in which he faced 84 deliveries and scored eight boundaries.
Earlier, spin bowler Michael Squires neutralised the threat of the Southend middle order with 4-27 from seven overs, while Rob Long (3-27) and Brian Edwards (2-42) gave valuable support. Opening bowler Paul Hall picked up the remaining wicket to fall.
