Dartfordians v Belhus Cricket Club Sunday 2nd XI on Sun 24 May 2009 at 2pm
Belhus Cricket Club Won by 48 Runs
Match report
On a wicket where you didn't know whether to wear a helmet or ankle pads, Belhus decided to bat first. Mike Randall and Darren Frampton opened and started well, but this soon changed didn't hang around scoring 2 boundaries from his first over before being bowled for 20. With the ball getting older and the pitch getting worse, runs were hard to come by, and apart from Randall scoring 24 and Harry Levy scoring 7, the only other batsmen who came to terms with the conditions was Daniel Dreher who scored 23 not out. The pick of the bowlers for the home side was Joe Ashby who picked up 3 wickets from 8 overs.
Dartfordians came to the crease and started well, but Belhus only had to be patient, bowl straight and wait for the pitch to do it's stuff. The pitch obliged with Long surprising Rossould with a ball that came back at him and kept low. In no fewer than 7 Dartfordians batsmen being bowled the most bazaar was a Harry Levy flighter that bounced once and rolled 2 yards along the deck to catch Rowlett bewildered for 4 runs. The pick of the Belhus bowlers was Harry Levy taking 3 wickets from his 3 overs, Rob Long picking up 3 wickets, and Mr Economical Graham Davidge taking 1 wicket conceding just 8 runs from his 6 overs. A mention must go to Robert Connell who took his first wicket for the club.
