Belhus Cricket Club Sunday 2nd XI v Leigh-on-Sea on Sun 10 May 2009 at 2pm
Belhus Cricket Club Won by 155 Runs
Match report
On what was a superb batting track Belhus opened up proceedings with Mike Randall, and skipper Darren Frampton. Opening bowlers Archer, and Cartwright started well but failed to make that important breakthrough, and with the wicket getting better and better Randall and Frampton had the perfect opportunity to push on and put a big target on the board. The Leigh on Sea side tried to mix it up but this didn't prevent Frampton hitting his maiden century, and a fine opening partnership of 206 with Randall. Frampton was eventually bowled by Cartwright for 104, with Randall LBW for 90. Peter Clark and Ian Wright saw out the 40 overs, with Clark scoring 9 not out, and Wright scoring 12 not out.
In response, Leigh on Sea didn't really get going due to some good tight bowling from openers Long, and Davidge. Long was the first bowler to strike dismissing Brady for 2 runs, caught behind by Michael Fogg. Youngster Sam Hall, and Laurie Hawkes came into the attack and continued to bowl good line and length, with Hawkes picking up the wicket of Luca for 5 runs and Hall dismissing Patel for 4.There were some great bowling figures, with Hall bowling 6 overs for just 5 runs, taking 1 wicket, Davidge bowling 6 and conceding only 7 runs. The pick of the bowlers however was Laurie Hawkes who picked up 4 wickets from his 6 overs and only conceding 8 runs. Leigh on Sea batsmen Cartwright who scored a good 31, and Western 22 were the pick of the batsmen for the away side.
Belhus were comfortable winners in the end by 155 runs.
