Match report The Spitfires faced a notoriously dangerous Basildon and Pitsea side in there 2nd league game of the season. Winning the toss, and batting first in glorious sunshine and on a lovely wicket Belhus racked up an impressive 143-5 off their 24 overs. Louie and Riley set the tone upfront and put on 60+ for the first wicket, both retiring on 25. Charlie Walker kept things ticking over, rotating the strike well with his 17 runs which allowed James Maynard to then smash 28 off 12 balls including a flat 6. Basildon found life hard for the majority however bowled very well it the last 3 overs to probably leave Belhus 15 short of what was an exceptional score. Dan Gray was the pick of the bowlers with his 1-12 off his 3 overs while their was a wicket each for Oliver Lovewell, Aariz Malik, Lewis Cory and Charlie Martin.

Basildon started the chase positively with Dan Gray scoring 15 very quickly before he was run out by Charlie Walker. James Webb then picked up 2 wickets in 2 balls including a very nice caught and bowled to leave Basildon 30-4 after 7 overs. Mitansh Shah was really the only other Basildon batsman to dig in and provide some resistance in the middle overs as Basildon never looked in the game. James Webb the pick of the bowlers with his 2-6 while there was also 2 wickets for Alex Newell and a wicket a piece for Aaryian Kansagra, Dylan Sinfield, Alfie Ware and Matt Friend.

Back to back wins now to start the season, against usually a strong opposition. Players are performing and results are showing.
