Oakfield elected to bat in this 40 over encounter later reduced to 35 due to a sharp rain shower. They posted a competitive total of 207 for 5 against a very young and old Belhus Sunday XI who struggled with the ball. Opener T.Khan led the way despite surviving a very confident appeal for a caught behind when on 5. He received support from fellow opener N Hossain (26) and number three S. Khan who made a good 70 until he holed out on the boundary well caught by young Sam Fairweather. Best of the Belhus bowling came from Muhammad Yasar who bowled 7 overs for just 21 runs.

In reply, the Belhus innings started poorly against a very competitive Oakfield side. With the ball keeping low at one end and spinning excessively at the other, runs were initially hard to come by. Although not bowled out, Belhus could muster only 132 for 8 with contributions from Michael Cansdale (32), Mike Randall (22) and young James Maynard who held up an end to finish 25 n.o. giving some respectability in a game Belhus never looked likely to win. Saturday's 2nd XI centurion Wayne Read was out first ball, that's cricket. Thanks to Julie for scoring.
