The Belhus second string deputising as the 1st XI who were playing Ilford in the SNEL league knock-out cup were on a hiding to nothing In this Essex Sunday League match, Hoping to give a good account and at least compete, this was not the case. Electing to bat, Belhus were bowled out for a just 67 with Josh Clarke (33) and young Rhys Goulden (10) making double figures as Benfleet bowled and fielded well holding several outstanding catches in the outfield coupled to a number of poor shots.

After tea, the bowling sadly mirrored the batting as Benfleet cruised home in 6.2 overs (including 10 wides) to win by 9 wickets. Well played Benfleet - a game best forgotten but at least the fixture obligation was fulfilled, a feather in the cap for Belhus.
