Match report This was an unusual game in that it was a "home" game played at Orsett with Belhus Sunday 2s hosting Abridge who were initially the visitors at North Stifford. However, due to an availability explosion and the need to get another fixture this changed and Goresbrook ended up at Stifford. In light of this Abridge were "offered" the toss and chose to bat and made good progress against inconsistent bowling reaching 70 for 1.1st change George Maidment made a break through as opener Nick Elliott got a nick down the leg side as stumper Keith Dhannie took a good catch. Opener D.Newman passed his fifty taking advantage of anything loose (sadly there were quite a few) on what was now proving a good track. R Morgan contributed a "quick-fire" 25 until he was well caught by Randall at mid-wicket off Cliff Cansdale who now gave the home side some control showing that experience counts as he took four wickets but after this opener Newman opened up being severe on all bowlers to dominate although he did give a couple of opportunities later in his innings as Abridge closed on 252 for 5 with Newman dominating on 150 no. in their allotted 40 overs.There were some 24 extras including 13 wides. Keith Dhannie did a good job as make-shift stumper.

In reply, Belhus made a poor start loosing opener Amit Gohil to a loose shot. George Maidment joined opener Randall in a stand of 75 for the second wicket as Belhus threatened on 79 for 1 off just 13 overs as Maidment stroked the ball around quite beautifully. Unfortunately the inexperience of youth saw him attempt a big shot at the wrong time when a century was there for the taking and the rate was only 6 an over very getable against moderate bowling. After this with Ryan Prendergast making 40 his top score the Belhus innings floundered as Randall (45) got out trying to keep up with the run rate as did Keith Dhannie who made a quick-fire 17 and the Belhus innings fizzled out to 186 for 9 off 40 overs in a disappointing start to the season to lose by 66 runs, better luck next time!
