Horton Kirby* v Belhus Cricket Club Development XI on Sun 02 Jul 2017 at 2pm
Belhus Cricket Club Won by 112 Runs
Match report
The young Belhus side visited long-standing fixture and friends in Horton Kirby in this Sunday fixture and batting first things couldn't have gone better for them - M.Randall got 20, Chris Didd got a steady 50 (retired) whilst batting with young Joshua Clarke, helping and encouraging him, as he reached 48. Josh was then joined at the crease by Wayne Read, who eased him to his fifty and then fed young Clarke the strike as he set the day alight with his maiden hundred and in doing so, becoming the youngest player to score a century in an adult match. Clarke was finally out for a wonderful 103 off 103 balls, which included 15 fours and 1 six, a marvellous innings, as Belhus closed on 242 for 2 in their 40 overs.
In reply, Horton Kirby scored 130 all out in 32.2 overs, as the young Belhus attack set about defending the total with style all the boys bowling well - George, Young, Goulden, Tomlinson and Cansdale, Tomlinson bowled 6 overs for 6 runs, Lewis Young picked up 2 wickets for 35 off his 8 overs, Michael Cansdale grabbed 3 for 29 off 6. But star with the ball was Sam George with cracking figures of 6.2 overs 2 maidens to take 4 wickets for just 15 runs - top bowling by him as well as a crucial run out.
But the day belonged to Josh Clarke and he will remember it for a long time. Congratulations from all at Belhus Cricket Club.
