Opening match of the 2017 Shepherd Neame Essexrr League season. This dull affair on a poor Ockendon pitch ended in a tame draw as a chase of 209 proved a big total. Main contributors were Akrama Khan with 62 while Ryan Prendergast and Cliff Cansdale picked up three wickets each for Belhus in a disappointing bowling peformance. After tea, Amit Gohil top scored with 37 for the hosts and Mike Randall retired hurt after a nasty delivery reared up hiting his right elbow knumbing his right hand while Hayat Mir impressed for the visiting Ilford side with two wickets at a cost of just nine runs from five overs, which included one maiden. With defensive field placing and runs hard to come by as the pitch deteriorated Belhus managed a draw as victory never looked likely and closed on 131 for 5 off 40 overs.
