Belhus Cricket Club Midweek XI v East Herts Cavaliers on Thu 22 Jun 2017 at 2pm
Belhus Cricket Club Won by 84 Runs
Match report
Belhus mid-week eleven fired on all cylinders in this 40 over encounter v East Herts Cavaliers at North Stifford. Electing to bat on a good surface and fast outfield all batsman 'made hay' with Michael Cansdale top-scoring with a good 75, Vamish Lingala a well made 50, both of whom sportingly retired. Other contributions came from opener Chris Didd returning to cricket (18), youngster Ewan Day (30), Jim Robertson (57 n.o.) bringing up his fifty with a straight six that hit the sightscreen and Cliff Cansdale having a rare opportunity to bat making a crafted 39. The fifth wicket realised 86 runs and Belhus closed on 302 for 2. Best bowling for Cavaliers came from Rice-Milton with 1 for 46 off 6 overs as all bowlers suffered on a very flat pitch.
In reply, Cavaliers were circumspect making a slow start against tight bowling by guest Joe Mitchell (Orsett) and Keith Dhannie as the first 15 overs realised just 43 runs with opener D.Burrows making 29 but taking 74 balls. However, positive batting from M.Freeman (45) unluckily caught down the leg side and Captain Adrian Unwins who crashed 79 off 40 balls showed what a good wicket it was - enabling some respectability as Cavaliers closed on 218 for 4 to lose by 84 runs.
For Belhus, Adam Dudmish bowled well without much luck to return 1 for 53 from 10 overs as did Keith Dhannie who returned 2 for 68 off 12 overs suffering slightly towards the end to the bat of Unwin and attacking field placing.
Thanks to Julie Whitlock for scoring, Martin Burnley for umpiring and Peter Bright for preparing a very good pitch.
