Match report We lost the toss. In this 40 over encounter under very threatening skies, the mainstay of the Harold Wood innings was built around opener Clark who hit a good 71. He received support from Mortimer who made a fortunate 60 after a scratchy start. Other contributions came from Mallick (20), Thompson (43 n.o.) and Muragesh (14 n.o.) as HW closed on a very respectable 247 for 7. For Belhus, Andrew Williams took 4 for 45 from his 8 overs with his 'liquorice allsorts' including a 'pea roller' and guest Ryan Barker 2 for 43 from his allotment. Amazingly, we made it to tea.

In reply, guest Andrew Phillips went cheaply and the innings was rebuilt on what was becoming a very difficult pitch with low bounce. The bowling became more friendly as the light faded making it difficult to pick up the ball and then the inevitable that had been threatening since 2pm occurred - it poured with rain and the game was abandoned with Belhus on 141 for 7 off just 24.5 overs leaving Mike Randall 19 n.o and guest Harry Austin 32 n.o. For HW Muragesh took 3 for 17 and A.McManus took 2 for 27.
