Match report Belhus Sat 3rd XI slumped to a disappointing 3 wickets defeat at the hands of Northampton Exiles 2nd XI. Electing to bat on what proved a somewhat tricky wicket with a slow outfield, runs were at a premium with our top five failing to impress. John Wilson at No. 6 took the attack to the opposition hitting a swift 25 before he miscued to another ball that 'stopped' to steeple one straight up. The unfortunate fluke run out of Jack Plane (who was non-striker when the ball deflected off one fielder straight to another) did not help the situation. Finally, Zak Wilson's 17 runs contribution at No. 9 pushed the final total to 114 all out. in the 39th over.

In reply, the Exiles batting fared little better as Zak Wilson and Aidan Mason bowled well without much luck. Although wickets fell at regular intervals, the Exiles ground out a 3 wickets victory in 30.1 overs.

Belhus were probably some 20 runs or so short on this occasion. All bowlers performed well in sharing the wickets. Better luck next time!
