Match report Electing to bat in this 40 over encounter, Belhus made a good start as openers Randall and Baker put on 29 in just five overs. Randall then middled one straight to deep extra cover for a brisk 15. The innings then lost momentum as Zak Wilson, Jim Robertson and the ever reliable Wayne Read failed to really trouble the scorers as Belhus tottered on 72 for 4. However Belhus opener Chris Baker remained resolute. He was joined by Keith Dhannie who continued current good form on a Sunday to produce what proved a match-winning innings of 70. He received good support again from Baker who was caught one-handed on the boundary for 39 just as he was beginning to open up and again further support from Liam Waters (22), Jack Plane (24) and John Wilson (12) as the Belhus innings recovery continued to realise a respectable 215 for 9 off their allotted overs. For Wickford, L.Grimes took 3 for 41 and D Harrison 1 for 41 off their allotted overs with a wicket each for the other five bowlers. A McKenna took four outfield catches including the one-hander on the boundary.

In reply, the Wickford innings started well (assisted by several grassed chances) with opener A.McKenna going for his shots to score 55 despite being dropped three times until Ryan Prendergast showed how it should be done. At 86 for 2 off 17 overs, Wickford were well placed with Spooner making a steady 34 at No 3. Wickford youngster with great promise who kept well R.McKenna made a steady 15. After this, the Belhus attack tightened with John Wilson conceding just 21 from his allotted 8 overs taking the crucial wicket of McKenna. The introduction of 'Man of the Match' Keith Dhannie, who claimed four wickets, snuffed out any chance off a Wickford victory as the run-rate rose despite a threatening innings of 31 off just 25 balls from S.Brown. With 5 overs remaining, Wickford required 47 but this proved too many as they closed on 194 for 7 off their 40 overs.
