Match report Electing to bat in this 40 overs Sunday friendly encounter at Orsett, Belhus were indebted to the home side who supplied two pre-arranged players as Belhus were extended running three XIs on this day.

Played in great spirit, Belhus made a good start when Keith Dhannie hit the first ball of the match for six over extra cover as the first over realised 16 runs including another six! In an opening stand of 36 with Danny Groves who made 6. George Maidment joined Dhannie until the latter holed out at mid-on for a tame dismissal when looking well set. G.Maidment made a good 47 until he miscued off Tom Redman to be caught at cover going for his fifty. Here the Belhus batting stumbled. Bob Mead made a steady 19 and guest Michael Parker a good 22 until he was superbly caught by home skipper O'Neil. Single figure contributions down the order saw 10-man Belhus close on a disappointing 165 for 8 some 50 runs short of the target on a good Orsett pitch.
