Mount v Belhus Cricket Club Sunday 2nd XI on Sun 23 Aug 2015 at 2pm
Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 8 Wickets
Match report
A twenty over match was salvaged as a very depleted Sunday II's travelled to the picturesque ground at mount on Sunday. A very young team including two injured players making the numbers up and Michael Randall's 17 year old daughter Jennifer hepled out as Belhus struggled to field a team. On arrival the chance of play looked remote to say the least as rain was falling with dark clouds above. All sat in their cars waiting for the formality of the game being called off!
Miraculously, however, the rain stopped momentarily and a start was attempted. Belhus elected to bat on a damp track posting a surprisingly competitive 140 for 4 off 20 overs as the rain somehow held off. with positive good batting by opener Jack Plane finally notching a 50 for the season after scoring many 40 pluses and young Ben Garwood making 45 at No 4 including 20 off one over (a talent for the future!) The best of the Mount bowling came from the experienced Patmer who conceeded just 17 from his alloted 4 over spell.
In reply, young Jamie Fairweather and the diminutive Evan Gray opened the bowling for Belhus. Opener Webb set about this scoring a rapid 71 to keep mount in touch despite the early loss of fellow opener Portugal bowled by Gray for 2 his first senior wicket (well done)However No 3 Offered joined Webb hitting exactly 50 n.o. against at times bowling that was too short with John Wilson taking some stick conceding 33 runs off 3 overs! as the sun now came out to win by 8 wickets with 5 balls remaining.
For Belhus Jack Plane bowled well almost containing Mount taking 1 for 15 off 3 overs. A great effort by Belhus to raise a side and not let the opposition down as had been the case when Leigh-on-Sea cried off against Mount two weeks earlier. Thanks toEvan,Brett,Mike and Jennifer
