Belhus Cricket Club Sunday 2nd XI v Tillingham on Sun 28 Apr 2013 at 1pm
Belhus Cricket Club Won by 6 Wickets
Match report
Belhus Sunday 2's easily beat a weakened Tillingham outfit at Ockendon Rec on Sunday. Electing to bat in this 40 over encounter, Tillingham made a good start with opener D.Cummings severe on anything loose reaching 39 for 1 off 10 overs. However an enforced bowling change due to a foot injury to Mudassir Mukhtar saw first change Jack Plane grab 4 wickets - all bowled - on a pitch that was keeping low. The introduction of veteran Wilf Gansbuhler with his wily off spin "doodlebugs" had equal effect. He too grabbed four wickets including that of the dangerous Cummings who made 29 as Tillingham collapsed to 70 all out off just 19.2 overs.
In reply, the opening combination of Tom Thompson and Toby Reynolds realised 38 to all but make the outcome academic until Thompson mis-judged a full toss to offer a return catch when looking well set and Reynolds was bowled. Youngster Mark Fogg and John Wilson fell cheaply, but this brought together Greg Mendham and Scot Stonham who knocked off the remaining runs quickly and without further ado for a comprehensive 6 wickets win with Mendham hitting a rapid 19 including a six. For the visitors spinner Potten took 3 for 17.
