Harlow v Belhus Cricket Club Saturday 4th XI on Sat 31 Aug 2013 at 1pm
Match was Drawn
Match report
Belhus 4's put up a creditable performance against a strong Harlow outfit who were league leaders in the penultimate league game of the season in the SNEL. Harlow scored steadily down the order with No. 3 batsman Ken Aldred being last man out off 52 overs for a good 91 and No. 5 James Coldwell who struck a good 63. Rob Long and Ryan Prendergast proved the most economical bowlers but with wickets in hand and some disappointing fielding, the latter bowling was put to the sword as Harlow totalled a formidable 232 for 5. Scott Stonham took three catches including two off his own bowling.
In reply, opener Stonham was out to an amazing catch at short mid-off that would have graced any cricket match. Mike Randall applied himself against some good bowling and fielding and with Suhail Shahid (who scored his maiden fifty for the club)stroking 71, Belhus briefly threatened in a stand of over a hundred for the 3rd wicket. However it was not to be as Suhail was bowled trying one big shot too many and then Randall chopped on to his stumps on a wicket that kept very low making stroke play difficult. Mike Squires hit a cameo 25 before he was adjudged L.B.W. and Belhus closed on a respectable 188 for 7 wickets realistically lacking the batting firepower to put in an effective challenge. For Harlow, Jack Davies took 3 for 27 off 12 overs.
