Match report Winning the toss and electing to bat in this Warsop League 40 overs encounter, Belhus 2's made a steady start despite the loss of opener Wayne Read to a brilliant one-handed catch in the gully by F. McCintyre as the first 5 overs yielded just 9 runs against some good bowling. However, the arrival of the in-form Roy Heffernan raised the tempo. He commenced his innings with a huge 6 over square leg followed by a lofted 4 over mid off. This obviously inspired the out-of-form Chris Baker as the pair then put the Galleywood attack to the sword in a second wicket stand of 174 - well in excess of a run-a-ball and a score of over 300 looked likely. Both were eventually dismissed to tired shots for 87 and 80 respectively and it was left to Jack Day (19) Sam Hall (40 n.o.)and young Matthew Williams (10) to boost the total to a formidable 262 for 7. Of the Galleywood bowlers, Marlow took 3 for 46 off 8 overs.

In reply, Galleywood also made a slow start reeling at 15 for 2 as 'wicket machine' George Maidment clean-bowled both openers, the second with a 'good-un' as runs were at a premium. With the run rate now just above eight an over, J.Rayner and F.McCintyre opened up in a threatening stand of 120 until McCintyre gunned one hard for veteran Mike Randall to take a good low down catch at mid on off the persevering Sam Hall. Galleywood, however, continued the tempo with No. 5 batsman S.Marlow making a good 40 until a great throw from the boundary by Matthew Williams ran out No. 3 J.Rayner for 70 when going for a third. With Marlow bowled by Sam Hall for a good 40 shortly afterwards, the Galleywood innings "fizzled out" to 210 for 9 for a good Belhus win by 52 runs on another great wicket at North Stifford. Best of the Belhus bowling was Matthew Williams and George Maidment who both returned 3 for 26, Sam Hall 2 for 52. A great all round team performance.
