Cassowaries won the toss and elected to bat first on a perfect batting surface at Thames Rugby Club on Saturday. Afghan Khan hit an impressive 129 not out, Imran struck 61 and Joe Keep scored 60, despite the best efforts of Robert Long, Mike Squires and Mike Randall, who picked up two wickets each.

In reply, Naveed Mirza hit 57, but Cassowaries proved to be far too strong despite supporting knocks from Mark Fogg and captain Stuart Morris with 16, Toby Reynolds made 19, as did Long with a short cameo from just twelve deliveries, which included three fours and one six. Terry Squires was undefeated on 12 at close of play.
