Match report Belhus undertook the long haul to Tillingham on Sunday and returned with the spoils in a cliosely fought encounter. Belhus teed off with a steady opening partnership of 63 between Jim Banner and Peter Clark, but 5 wickets fell for 59 runs including Banner for a busy 40 (7x4). Scott Stonham 65 not out (10x4, 1x6) and Jack Plane 24 not out then set about repairing the innings to close on 196 for 5. The spin of Tillinghams Potten picking up 4 for 38.

In response, Tillingham lost an early wicket but Ford (45) and Barrell (86 n.o.) set about the Belhus attack and a home win looked a formality. Once Ford departed LBW to Plane, Barrell who was becalmed by a tight offside line from the Belhus attack was joined by a succession of partners who failed to handle the teasing flight and guile of Jim Banner (4 for 33) and the swing of Jack Plane (2 for 37). A couple of run outs including a fantastic direct hit by Plane plus two good catches from the same and a remarkable catch by veteran Mike Randall assisted the cause and Barrell was left stranded on 86 not out as Tillingham fell 3 runs short of the Belhus target in a remarkable win as the Belhus held their nerve.
