Belhus Cricket Club Sunday 2nd XI v Writtle on Sun 19 Aug 2012 at 2pm
Belhus Cricket Club Won by 7 Wickets

Match report Writtle 210-6
Belhus 2nd 211-3

A mixture of experience and youth saw Belhus Sunday 2's to a 7 wicket victory over a mature Writtle outfit at North Stifford. Electing to bat, the Writtle openers found runs at a premium against an accurate Belhus attack of Norris and Martin-Hussey whose late in swing posed all sorts of problems eventually bowling Canning for 5. Martin Hussey was unfortunate not to make further inroads as T.Norman made a somewhat fortunate 51 until his luck finally ran out caught by Randall off the evergreen Richard Waters for an enterprising 51. A. Kuyan threatened to up the tempo with an explosive 17 including a massive 6 off young Mark Fogg but the youngster showed great maturity producing a "goodun" to re-arrange his stumps. Guest player Toby Reynolds chipped in with a dozen and a few lusty blows toward the end allowed Writtle to close on a competitive 210 for 7. A creditable performance as the first 9 overs only yielded 20 runs.

In reply, the Belhus openers of Randall and Waters with some 95 years between them made a great start, scoring at 5 an over thanks to some good running, a few lusty blows from the bat of Waters and a fantastic Liz Fogg tea (that might have affected the opposition!) in an opening stand of 83, in good time until the latter was unluckily adjudged L.B.W. by his best mate! Scott Stonham joined Randall hitting a brisk 22 until he mis-judged a slower one and was bowled and then Jack Plane departed cheaply for just 3. This brought to the crease Danny Norris who played a fantastic innings totally dominating the bowling in a stand with Randall of 82. This allowed Belhus to romp home with almost five overs remaing with Norris unbeaten on 56 off just 38 balls showing great class and clean hitting for a fantastic Belhus Sunday 2's team performance probably their best of the season. Randall finished on 65 n.o. off 81 balls.

Pick of the home bowling was Jack Martin-Hussey with 2-24 from eight overs.
Young Joshua Reynolds bowled well too showing great promise for the future.
