Great & Little Warley v Belhus Cricket Club Gentlemen's XI on Sun 18 Sep 2011 at 1pm
Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 6 Wickets
Match report
Belhus 133 all out
Great and Little Warley 135-4
Jim Banner hit a fine 54 on an exceptionally slow pitch at Warley on Sunday. Banner hit seven fours in his occupation of the crease, but only Brian Edwards and Scott Stonham, with 11 and 15 respectively, joined Banner in reaching double figures. For the home side, Huxtable picked up 2-26 from five overs and Mahesh returned 2-22 from six overs. After the break, openers Stiller and Sachin put on 62 for the first wicket, with Sachin batting like a Sri Lankan international pinch hitter. He was eventually stumped by the dynamic Mike Randall off the bowling of Cliff Cansdale (1-34) for 46, but by then the foundations for a home win had been well and truly laid. Sachin hit three sixes, one of which was a towering monster of a drive right out of the ground and into another field. Sachin followed that up by hitting four other boundaries. Stiller gave valuable support with 32 until he was caught by Paul Hall at cover point off the bowling of John Forrest (1-25). Brian Edwards picked up 1-26 for Belhus and Stonham's late introduction saw him claim one wicket for just three runs in a solitary over. Mahesh completed a good all-round game by finishing on 38 not out.
