Nazeing Common v Belhus Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI on Sat 16 Apr 2011 at 2pm
Belhus Cricket Club Won by 5 Wickets
Match report
BELHUS SPIN IT TO WIN IT
Nazeing Common 107 all out
Belhus 3rd 108 for 5
After a solid Nazeing start, spin bowlers Owen Jefferies and Cliff Cansdale claimed seven wickets at a cost of just 28 runs between them from a total of 16 overs and in doing so laid the foundation for an eventual five-wicket victory. Jefferies figures were 4-13 from 8 overs which included two maidens, while the Cansdale return was 3-15 (three maidens). Mitchell Arthur mopped up the tail, bagging the remaining three home wickets for only eleven runs from 4.1 overs. Only three Nazeing Common batsmen reached double figures, being Paul Johnson with 23, Ronald Morley 13 and Essex Women's county player Sarah Waters who was left stranded on 14 not out.
In the post-tea session, Ben Kent top-scored for Belhus with 33, while openers Stuart Morris and Mike Randall contributed 15 and 28 respectively. Middle-order batsman Mathew Lewis junior then perfectly executed two straight drives to the boundary, the second of which concluded the game in the visitors' favour. Lewis finished on 10 not out from just eight deliveries. For the Nazeing Common hosts, Wills picked up 2-22 from four overs, while Dack, Dove and Waters each picked up a wicket.
