REUBEN HART FIRST TO REACH 1,000 RUNS:
Belhus 1st XI 207-7. Barking 1st XI 212-6.
In the 16th Hamro Foundation Essex League match of the season, top-of-the-table Barking elected to field after winning the toss.
With a comfortable tempersture, Belhus weren't too disappointed to be asked to bat first but, alas, their batters didn't enjoy the best of days against some tight bowling as they came up way short of a par total, with only skipper Billy Winter (41*), George Bowden (41) and Reuben Hart (33) showing any resistance. Five of the Barking bowlers claimed wickets as they restricted Belhus to 207 for 7 after the allotted 50 overs.
In reply, Barking lost an early wicket but a 2nd wicket partnership of 124 between Ash Pal (43) and Hasnain Querishi (66) put paid to any realistic hopes of a Belhus victory, and although they faced a middle order wobble at 187-6, they eased home to a 4-wicket win in 32.1 overs.
It wasn't one of Belhus's better days, but Reuben Hart was congratulated for becoming the first Belhus batter to reach 1,000 runs for the season. Well done Reuben.
