LEWIS BLAKE CENTURY IN 1ST XI'S 7-WICKET WIN OVER FRENFORD

08 Aug 2026

LEWIS BLAKE CENTURY IN 1ST XI'S CONVINCING WIN OVER FRENFORD:

Frenford 1st XI 264-7 Belhus 1st XI 267-3:

In the fourteenth HFEL match of the season at North Stifford, skipper Dylan Sinfield elected to field first after winning the toss.  And initially his hunch proved right when Frenford were pinned to 118 for 5.  But then their fortunes changed for the better after a 91-run 6th wicket partnership between Syed Shah and Fazal Rehman lifted them to 209 for 5 before Shah fell for a dogged 26.  However, Rehman continued to prove difficult to budge as he slammed 8 sixes and finished undefeated for a run-a-ball 120 and Frenford closed on 264 for 7 after their 50 overs.   Callum Owen maintained his good form for the season with 3 for 19 from just 9 mean overs.

In the run-chase after tea, Lewis Blake and Reuben Hart put on a commanding 139-run 2nd wicket partnership to place Belhus in a potentially winning position until Hart was dismissed for a patient half-century (56) with the total sitting on 192 for 2  Shortly thereafter, Blake was caught after stroking his first century (111) of a consistent season, but the total was still pleasingly perched on 208 for 3 after 38.5 overs.

With Belhus in the driving seat, it was left to Zak Wilson (36*) and Dylan Sinfield (32*) to take complete command of the situation and together they smashed 59 off 4.2 overs to bring proceedings to a swift conclusion after a towering six by Sinfield achieved a convincing 7-wicket victory.

A fine win for the 1st XI who are placed in fourth position in their Division.
