AFTAB AHMAD SMASHES MAIDEN CENTURY BUT 4TH XI LOSE:
Belhus 4th XI 300-8
Ingatestone & Fryerning 3rd XI 304-7:
Our 4th XI batted first and proceeded to notch up a total of 300 for 8 from the allotted
40 overs, after skipper Adam Martin found Aftab Ahmad in superb form as he crashed his maiden century from just 48 balls (8 x 4s, 9 x sixes) - the
second fastest ton in the Club's history, just behind Dylan Sinfield's
42 balls against Eltham in 2025. Mohammad Sadman Hossan supported well
with 56 from 51 balls.
After tea, Belhus felt confident when
taking the field but Ingatestone's Ian Steel put paid to their hopes by
slamming a fine 97 from 70 balls, and with Harry Wharram contributing an undefeated 56, his side marched home to a
well-deserved 3-wicket victory with just 1 over remaining.
Any 40-over match
involving 600+ runs is always memorable and this was no exception. Well
played all. Despite the heat-wave, a thoroughly enjoyable day.
