ZAHEER AHMAD STROKES MAIDEN CENTURY BUT BELHUS LOSE:
Belhus 4th XI 224-6 Frenford 5th XI 225-9:
This 4th XI HFEL match was played at the Thames Rugby Club when Frenford won the toss and put us in to bat.
Opener Ryan Prendergast stroked 48 and the forever consistent Brian Edwards contributed 30 in his second game of the season. But it was Zaheer Ahmad who conquered the Frenford bowling attack by registering a superb maiden century (122) - the Club's second highest score of the season - to enable us to close our innings at a respectable 224 for 6. Ayaan Fazal bowled well in capturing 3 for 3 from just 4 tidy overs.
In the run-chase, apart from a wobble in the Frenford middle order, the game was always in the balance. And although golden arm Brian Edwards picked up 4 for 27 and Muthu Kishnasamy 4 for 26, Belhus couldn't quite winkle them out and Frenford squeezed home to win by just 1 wicket with only 3 balls remaining.
This was an enjoyable game from start to finish and the result could have gone either way. Well played Frenford.
