JOE JOYCE NAMED 'PLAYER OF THE TOURNAMENT' IN NATIONAL VILLAGE CUP 2023.
Joe Joyce was named 'Theakston Player of the Tournament' in the 2023 Voneus National Village Cup for his outstanding all-round skills.
Belhus exited the competition in
Round Five but heading into the final, Joe remained second in the overall
run-scoring charts.
In five innings, Joe scored 333
runs at 83.25, including one century and three half-centuries, with a strike
rate of 103.61.
And with the ball, he collected 11
wickets at an average of 12.27, with an economy rate of 3.86.
In Round Four, he delivered
arguably the best all-rounder performance of the tournament, scoring 117 not
out and taking 5 for 47 against Bentley.
Simon Theakston, joint managing
director at Theakston Brewery, said:
“All the players shortlisted were
outstanding achievers, with great claims to be awarded the Player of the
Tournament accolade, making this hardest of choices.
“However, a decision had to be
made and we are thrilled to announce Joe Joyce of Belhus CC as this year’s
Player of the Tournament.
“Joe has given a great all-round
performance with both bat and ball, including a century, three half-centuries
and 11 wickets.
“We offer our warmest
congratulations to Joe who receives a selection of our beers, a bottle of the
Spirit of Old Peculier and a Theakston Pewter tankard.”
Congratulations Joe from everyone
at the Club - you gave a lot of people a lot of pleasure. No other player in the county has received such an accolade. You brought credit to the Club as well as the county and we are very proud of you.
