Our
1st XI won the toss and elected to field in this final match of the
Hamro Foundation Essex League season - a game they needed to win to finish Runners-Up in Division One.
Shenfield
made their way confidently to 113 for 3, but their last 7 wickets fell
for just 44 runs as spinner Joe Joyce bowled superbly to capture 5 for 21
(his 3rd '5for' of the season), and with 2 wickets apiece for Nathan Khelawon
and Jack Plom we dismissed Shenfield for an under-par 157 with Jack Potticary stroking a fine half-century.
In our run-chase, Joe Joyce opened the innings and carried his bat for an
undefeated 67, and with support from Nathan Khelawon (33*) we reached the
required target to win comfortably by 6 wickets.
And in a year when 3 of their matches were abandoned and 1
was cancelled, the team can feel justifiably pleased with their 2023
campaign.
