OLDEST CLUB RECORD WICKET PARTNERSHIP - 35 YEARS AGO.
At Belhus Park against Pegasus CC on 26th June 1988, our 1st XI batted first and were pleased with the opening partnership of 32 between Richard Waters and Terry Lambert Jnr. But then came a 'Belhus Collapse' as they lost 6 wickets for 16 runs to find themselves perched unhappily on 48 for 6.
But Belhus have recovered from tight situations before - and so it was again as Steve Huckstepp (56*) and John Forrest (82*) combined together to post an unbroken CLUB RECORD 7TH WICKET PARTNERSHIP of 145 to lift our total to 193-6 after the allotted 40 overs.
After tea, each of our six bowlers took wickets and we dismissed Pegasus for 50 to win comfortably by 143 runs. A great win for our 1st XI and the RECORD 7TH WICKET PARTNERSHIP remains in our record books to this very day - 35 years after the event and is the CLUB'S OLDEST RECORD WICKET PARTNERSHIP.
