HAT TRICK + + FOR JOE JOYCE

25 Jun 2023

HAT TRICK + + FOR JOE JOYCE.

On a hot afternoon on 24th June at North Stifford Village Green, our 1st XI dismissed Old Brentwoods for an under-par 217 as Joe Joyce did the damage with the ball in taking 6 for 53 including his maiden hat trick (just the sixth occasion of a hat trick in a 1st XI match in the club's 63-year history - the last being by Rikki Ellis in 2010 - also against Old Brentwoods!).

In our reply, we had little difficulty in chasing down the runs in 39 overs with Joe leading the pack with an undefeated 71 to enable us to win comfortably by 6 wickets.

A '6for', a hat trick and a fifty in the same match is an unprecedented achievement at our Club.  Well played Joe.

The victory placed skipper Max Osborne's side in 4th position in Division One of the Hamro Foundation Essex League, just 7 points behind the leaders Epping with 10 matches of the season remaining.
