Match report Upminster V Belhus 4th X1 – Away @ Coopers Coborn School Saturday 30/5/2026

On a hot Saturday afternoon, the 4th XI took on Upminster in a Friendly 40 overs game.

Amit, captaining his first ever game for Belhus, won the button toss (as nobody had a coin!) and elected to bowl first on the artificial surface.

Harvey Stapleton opening the bowling with debutant Shahzor Naveed sharing the new ball. Harvey taking 3 wickets in a fine opening spell whilst off-spinner Shahzor keeping it tight at the other end.

First change brought into action Viresh Kosambia bowling with good pace and at the other end the ever reliant and veteran Cliff Cansdale. Taking 3 wickets in his 8 over spell. The remaining wickets being shared between the remaining bowlers.

The chase started very well, even if we lost an early wicket, Michael Cansdale (43) and supported by Riley Macanspie (27 I think!), Shahzor Naveed (44 not out) and Veteran Brian Edwards (23 not out) took us to victory with over 10 overs to spare.

A fine effort by all with the ball, bat and in the field making my first game as captain straight forward.

Special mentions to Riley and Shahzor who both played a fantastic all-rounder performance, Samual Hisscott for some fine keeping and of course to the Special Veterans, Cliff Cansdale and Brian Edwards, superb performances and still performing at the highest level!
