Batting first in their first match of the season, our 3rd XI struggled to find any form with the bat as Shehzad Ullah bowled superbly in taking 5 for 11. It was only skipper Imran Mohammed, coming in at No. 10, who brought any respectability to our total with 41 much-needed runs.

Our final score of 136 was always going to be difficult to defend, but our bowlers stuck to their task with Evie-Mae Bowden, George Church and Alfie Bowden collecting 2 wickets apiece to put Hornchurch in dire straits as they crumbled to 92 for 9. Belhus obviously thought they had the game in the bag, but tail-enders Singh (18*) and Ullah (41*) had other ideas as they produced a determined last-wicket stand of 45 to steer their team over the line to win an exciting game by 1 wicket. Well played Hornchurch.

With the Belhus camp naturally feeling disappointed with the outcome, this might well prove the match of the season.
