A very tough day at the office for a young Belhus team as we travelled to Clayhall Park to face a strong and experienced Redbridge 4s side. Our hosts were very welcoming nonetheless and the weather finally played ball.

Redbridge batted strongly but Belhus did have their moments. Will Dawson and Haider Bashir (both playing their first senior matches) both took three wickets, with Dawson adding a fine catch. Neel Singh (another debutant) took two wickets and Tyler Martin took a wicket and two fine catches also. At one point Belhus had Redbridge 160-8 but Ilham (40), Mohsin (48) and skipper Saleem (27*) lifted them to a hefty score of 254 all out. Credit to the young Belhus attack who did take 10 wickets against a decent, experienced side.

In reply, Belhus were simply blown away rather meekly for a miserable 36 all out. The Redbridge attack were simply too strong. Adam Martin top-scored with 9 hitting our only boundary. Wickets were shared around by the bowlers with Usman the pick of the bunch with 3 for 2.

Whilst the scorecard was extremely uneven, this was a good eye-opener for some of our young players and they will have learned a lot. There were definitely some promising efforts with the ball and in the field - but on the flip side Belhus did drop a lot of catches amongst the good grabs and 70 extras including a raft off no balls and wides did not help their cause - plenty to work on.
