Goresbrook batted first and posted what they must have regarded as an under-par score of 157 for 8, with only Alfie Atkins (72) and Hammad Ali (24) reaching double figures. Aryan Yagneshkumar Patel bowled well as our lead wicket-taker, capturing 3 for 24.

In the run-chase after tea, our middle order batted well but got out just when they were comfortably set. And when the score was perched on 148 for 8 we had victory in our sights. But alas, Richard Waters fell for a controlling 30 and Baij quickly followed to see us fall short of the target by just 9 runs.

A good game though that we felt we should have won, but well played Goresbrook.
